Charlie's Mitzvah Project

A mitzvah project is when a Jewish young-adult is coming to be a b’nei mitzvah and they do something to help their community or other people around the world. For my mitzvah project, I worked with Holy-Myrrh Bearers Ukranian Church in Swarthmore and created a winter clothing drive for Ukrainian orphans struggling because of the war. I made posters, my family put it on social media, I told my teachers and even got it on the announcements at school. Once the drive was over, I counted all the clothing and we collected;

47 coats
5 pairs of pants
3 pairs of snow pants
14 shirts
27 sweatshirts
5 pairs of boots/shoes
4 vests
63 hats
32 scarves
49 pairs of gloves

We then took all of the clothing to a Ukrainian church, and they took all of it and are shipping it straight to the kids. I am very happy with all the donations and am very proud of myself.
